A fragment of an iron probable late medieval to early post-medieval scabbard chape. Only the lower end of the object survives. This is a cast, hollow flat triangular chape with a jagged break around its upper edge and a flattened globular terminal projecting from its lower end. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded. Scabbard chapes are more commonly made from sheet metal, but cast examples in copper alloy and iron are known. Compare PAS records: PUBLIC-03A532, LON-0444D0 and WMID-C808A3. An incomplete wrought iron medieval barbed and socketed 'broadhead' arrowhead. The surviving section of the blade is triangular in shape with straight sides and lozenge-shaped cross-section. One side of the inner end projects into an incomplete barb, whilst the one on the other is largely missing. A complete probable Early Medieval iron knife dating to circa AD 500-1000. It is a whittle-tanged knife. The tang is rectangular-sectioned and tapers gently from a maximum width of 9.44mm at the junction with the blade to 5.4mm at its terminal. The blade is broadly straight-backed though there is an element of thickening at the shoulder, likely caused by corrosion rather than design. The knife becomes convex curving towards the tip.
