An incomplete copper-alloy sexfoil mount of Medieval date. A flower-like sexfoil mount copper-alloy sheeting, faceted, domed with two separate rivets (one of which is missing) and central hole, dating to the 14th Century, similar examples can be found in Egan and Pritchard, 1991, pg 189, plate 119). There is evidence of white metal coating.

A complete cast copper-alloy Medieval Limoges figurine. The figurine depicts a three-quarter length standing figure that is cast flat and rectangular in form with the exception of the head. This is cylindrical with a flattened top and back face and has moulded decoration comprising of eyes, nose and mouth, the eyes consist of inlayed blue glass. The reverse of the face has an integral cyclindrical rivet for attachement. A complete copper-alloy Roman vessel mount dating to the 2nd-3rd Century. It is broadly rectangular and roughly semi-circular in cross section. The mount depicts a female head with stylised features,with a headdress or helmet. At the base of the face there is drapery decorated with incised grooves. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy mount dating to circa AD 100-300. The lower half is crescentic (or pelta) with inverted rounded knops on each terminal, leading to a break. The reverse is concave with a copper allloy rivet projecting from the lower elements of the mount.
The mount is similar to Bishop and Coulston 1993L pg 156, no 9 and a number recorded on the PAS database including SF-7B39DD; OXON-998CA4; BM-B5D6AB; BH-59AF9D and SOM-1F75EF5. The example in Bishop and Coulston was recovered from Cirencester and believed to be associa…

A complete copper-alloy medieval sexfoil mount. It is formed from a disc of sheet metal stamped to create a convex outer face, concave reverse and ridges radiating outwards from the centre creating six lobes. There are two small circular holes at equal distance from ones another at the rim, both containing in situ copper-alloy rivets. The outer edge has been irregularly trimmed to the shape of the lobes.
Egan and Pritchard (1991, 26, fig.13) date this style of mount to c.AD 1270-1450.

A complete cast copper-alloy Medieval bar-mount with separate rivet and separate pendant loop, dating 1350 - 1400 AD. The bar-mount comprises a hanging plate and a pendant loop. The mount has a larger square front and a smaller diamond shaped reverse. The hanging plate is formed by a single sheet folded over on itself to form a handing loop. Attached to the loop is a circular pendant loop that is sub-circular in section.

Copper-alloy object the shape of a human head with an integral rivet or attachment stud on the reverse, probably a Roman military belt fitting. It is heavily abraded and has lost most of its original surface. The head is oval when viewed face-on, tapering slightly asymmetrically in the lower half; the upper jawline from the ear to the chin is straight on one side and convex on the other. It is plano-convex in cross-section; with the exception of the stud it is broadly flat on the reverse.

Description: The object has an oval body, narrowing at each end to arms which end in rounded terminals, only one of which remains. It is D shaped in cross-section with five ridges formed by grooving on the central lobe. These have diagonal scores giving a cross-hatched appearence in places. A complete copper-alloy medieval harness pendant suspension mount. The main body of the mount is flattened lozenge shape with an abrupt break across its outer end. Projecting from one pointed end are two parallel flattened sub-oval arms, positioned at a right-angle, the outer end of one of these missing. A complete Post Medieval copper-alloy probable suspension mount dating to circa AD 1550-1700. Broadly T-shaped in plan and plano-convex in section, the central element consists of a discoidal panel. Now heavily corroded, its front face is possibly anthropomorphic, decorated with a human head. Projecting from either edge are pointed oval knops. At the apex is a suspension loop. A median, separately made copper alloy circular rivet is in situ on the reverse. White metal coating covers the both faces.

A fragment of a copper-alloy medieval bar mount. It is a narrow strip shape, D-shaped in cross-section with a rounded outer face and with a break to one end and decorative terminal at the other. The terminal is circular in shape with a circular attachment hole through the centre and a narrow knop projecting from its outer end. The edge of a further attachment hole can be seen within the break. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded and it is bent slightly out of shape.

An incomplete copper-alloy anthropomorphic probable mount of probable medieval (or possible post-medieval) date. It takes the form of a male helmeted head with a rough break across its lower end. The outer face is moulded with the outline of a simple helmet across the top of the head and down each side as far as the ears and crescentic moulding covering the mouth, while the eyes and nose are defined with simple lines. The reverse of the object is concave. The metal has the red-brown patina more typical of post-medieval objects.

Early medieval gilded copper alloy mount, of middle early-medieval date (c.700-860).The mount has two flattened square terminals with engraved square borders that contain diagonal cross motifs formed of four raised pointed ovals .These are connected by a flat bar with circular silver rivets divided by a shallow groove. A complete copper-alloy late medieval to post-medieval shield-shaped mount. It is shield-shaped with a raised ridge running longitudinally down the centre of the outer face - the same ridge concave to its reverse. To either side of this the outer face is decorated with alternating wide diagonal ridges and recesses, the recesses filled with cross-hatching - probably an armorial design. There are small circular attachment holes in the centre of the lower end and to either side of the upper end - the latter two filled with iron corrosion.
