Cast copper alloy miniature axe Viking in date. It has a broken attachment loop at the top which would have been perpendicular to the axe. The axe is a broad bladed example. James Graham-Campbell, a Viking expert has seen a photograph of this object and says that 'the form is unusual as it is of the late broad-bladed type, whereas other Viking examples, e.g. of amber, are of earlier, narrower forms'. However it would be unusual to get a pagan item from a later date and so he is happy to date this item as broadly Viking.
