Cast copper alloy. In two fragments which fit together perfectly, due to post-depositional break across width of front plate. Appears similar to front plate of a Roman Bow Brooch, but no obvious areas for catch-plate or spring/pin. Wide at the top, becoming narrower towards the bottom, which is straight. Large curve at the top, then curving back on itself slightly towards the bottom. On the reverse side of the wider end is an unidentifiable figure/character (possibly an open mouthed snake-head or a hand) which is pointing down toward the narrower end.

Lead-alloy boy-bishop token dating from the late medieval period, i.e. c. AD1300-1600, commemorating the yearly election of a 'boy bishop' who would 'hold office' from Dec 6th to Dec 28th. The token is very similar to size and lay-out of silver groats of the 15th century. The obverse of the token depicts a bishop with mitre with a letter (illegible, possibly a Greek Omega) to the right and left of the bust. The inscription reads [SAN]CTE.NIMOLAE.[ORA.PRO.NOB]. The reverse shows a long cross dividing the legend, reading: AVE REX GNTIS ANGLORVM[ILE?] (Hail King of the English people) and…

A copper alloy 'heavy duty' beehive type thimble, dating from 1400 to 1550AD. The thimble is domed with slightly flared sides and a rounded top. Probably drilled although it could be cast, it is often difficult to distinguish between cast and hammered thimbles. A series of closely and unevenly set circular dents cover the sides, leaving a plain circular area around the crown.. The drilled pits begin at the top and continue in a continuous spiral to the base in a regular manner. It is possible that the thimble could be an open type as the top is missing. The length is 19mm, and the wid…
