Roman silver plated copper alloy coin, an antoninianus of Gordian III dating from AD 241 to 243 (Reece Period 12). Cf RIC 4 (Gordian III). Diameter 32mm. Obverse inscription IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, reverse inscription P M TR P VI COS II P P. The reverse depicts Apollo seated facing left with branch and lyre.
