An incomplete Post Medieval copper-alloy toggle clasp sword belt fitting dating to circa AD 1500-1700. Plano-convex in section, the extant piece consists of the lower part of the object with a moulded double collar at the apex, terminating in an old break. Below is circular eye with central recessed area containing a rectangular void with an offset side loop.   The complete piece would have formed a two sectioned clasp believed to be from sword belts and hangers. An incomplete of a Post Medieval copper alloy hooked strap-fitting or clothes fastener, c.AD 1500-1700. The openwork fastener is sub-oval in plan, moulded at the front and flat at the rear. This fitting is missing the hook and head of the object, which would have been formed as a possibly female head with radiating hair. The main body of this item has a heart, which is positioned between a pair of breasts formed from two cast curvilinear swirls. Beneath is a small raised sub-circular pellet, which probably represents a rounded stomach. Either side are two sub-oval perforated…

An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval sword belt hanger. It is composed of a sub-oval plate with a break at its outer end, a narrow rectangular section positioned transversely across its lower end and a long strip projecting from the centre of the lower edge of this latter section, curving round towards the reverse in a sinuous S-shape. The break at the outer end is probably where a suspension loop was positioned originally.  See PAS records: NARC-B8A095, LEIC-6FB5B3, BERK-09E9C0 and SWYOR-03F4D1 for comparison.

A complete copper-alloy strap fitting of probably post-medieval date. It consists of a long strip bent into a U-shape, becoming narrower at the bend. Each end has two circular holes through it, one above the other. One of these is covered with heavy iron corrosion. Fittings such as these were used for a long period and had a variety of functions, but the style of this example suggests a more recent date.

An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy zoomorphic strap fitting, being part of an S-shaped fastener, D shape in section, in the form of a snake, probably dating to c AD 1550 - 1800. It would have been roughly in the shape of a letter S.  What remains is one loop of the 'snake', with the simplistic form of the head given the appearance of biting the tail, so forming a loop. The fastener has a rough, mid green patina with darker patches where rubbing may have occurred. No detail of other decoration is apparent. An early break in the …

Copper alloy Post Medieval strap fitting probably from a sword belt. The strap fitting consists of a circular hollow-domed body. A small collared acorn-shaped knop projects at one end with the remains of an iron rivet blocking a hole in its centre. At the opposite end of the body a collared neck narrows sharply in width to form an integral rear facing hook, now missing its tip.
