Four flint flakes that are the result of flint working but that have not been worked into tools themselves. All have irregular chipped surfaces or wear which may have been caused by being on a beach at some point. It is not possible to suggest a specific date for these flakes. 1) Blade which is 63.7mm long, 25.4mm wide and 13.9mm thick. The dorsal face is very rough and irregular but there are clear removal facets on the ventral face. Speckled light grey flint. 2) Secondary flake which is 39.4mm long, 23.1mm wide and 5.4mm thick. Irregular dorsal surface. Black coloured flint. 3) Flak…

46 flint lithic implements, listed below by finders reference number. It s a mixed date assemblage, with a Mesolithic/Neolithic content and probably a later Bronze Age or even Iron Age element, i.e; c. 1600-200 BC, interesting re-use of smoe patinated pieces, e.g nos, 31 and 35. 4: Large unpatinated possibly natural flake with edge damage. 5: Patinated and stained long flake, possibly palaeolithic. 6: Patinated long flake with later unapatinated retouch along one edge, Mesolithic/Neolithic and Bronze Age. 7: Unpatinated long flake with crude edge retouch, later prehistori…

a snapped longblade, of probable Upper Paleolithic date. It is an orange-brown flint, rectangular and 95.48mm in length (width between 37 and 45mm) weighing 65.69g. The longblade has retouch along one edge, with smaller areas of retouch along the other edge and the distal end fracture. The retouch could be the result of re-utilisation at a later date.

Middle Palaeolithic Levallois core, knapped from very high quality dark black flint. The core has two convex faces. The upper surface has a considerable amount of flakes removed, leaving a large amount of flaking scars and impact ripples on the surface. There are patches of natural mid-grey cortex surviving on the outer edges of this surface. The other face has a bulb of percussion and there is a hinged fracture along part of the outer edge. This surface has only been worked around the edge, the majority of the surface remaining smooth with the exception of a few small scars. There is …

three prehistoric flint tools. 1) a deep brown patinated flint blade, with limited end retouch and slightly notched. It is 52.4mm in length and 18.80mm wide, broadening out to 31mm in width at the base. It weighs 7.36g. There is retouch and use wear along one edge, and there are parallel blade scars on the dorsal face. This blade probably dates to the Upper Paleolithic or Mesolithic periods. 2)an unpatinated black flake with 50% cortex, it is 36.98mm in length and 18.3mm wide, weighing 3.37g. It has parallel flake scars on the dorsal face, and is probably Neolithic or Early Bronze A…

Two lithic implments, the first is a flake which is patinated and partially stained medium brown with slight retouch or use wear and is prehistoric in date. The second is a snapped long blade with steep edge retouch on one edge and relatively crude retouch on the other, shallower edge. It is sub-triangular in cross-section. The flint is grey and deeply stained medium and dark rusty brown this example is probably Upper Palaeolithic in date.
