A complete flint lower Paleolithic handaxe likely to date to around 600,000 BC. Sub-cordate shape (Wymer (1999) Type E/D) with retouch mainly confined to the edges of both faces. There is a large patch of pebble cortex remaining in the centre of one face. The edges and surfaces are heavily abraded.  Found along the north Suffolk coast on the edge of the Pakefield to Kessingland outcrop of forest bed material (see Robins et al. 2008).  Length: 121.53mm, width: 91.76mm, thickness: 29.11mm, weight: 340g

A ?complete flint implement of probable palaeolithic date. It is large, roughly oval in shape and triangular in cross-section. Cortex still covers part of the dorsal face. There is a lot of damage around all sides of the butt end and the bulb of percussion is not visible. There are a few long, thin flaking scars at the distal end of the dorsal face and a small amount of irregular retouch around this edge, but this is crude and as such the object is difficult to classify as a formal tool type. It is a large natural flake, roughly triangular in shape, but there appears to be a some irregular, short, abrupt retouch along two of the sides. This is very crude and as such the object is difficult to classify as a formal tool type. A patinated and re-used lithic implement of Upper Palaolithic or later date. One face has a patination that is dark red to orange/brown in colour with extensive flake removal. At a later date the object appears to have been re-used resulting in the opposite face being removed and revealing the unpatinated dark grey flint at the core of the object, with relatively neat edge retouch along one side and some possibly flake removal at one end (distal end?). An incomplete but large flint blade of Upper Palaeolithic to Neolithic date. It has a dark brown or grey flint that has been stained a variety of browns possibly due to deposition in a peaty soil. The blade is snapped at both ends, one of the breaks being modern and the other ancient, and has bifacial edge retouch. It measures 149.78mm in length, 52.40mm in width, 22.06mm in thickness, and weighs 153.15g.

The butt end of an ovate or pointed hand-axe of Lower Palaeolithic date. The flint is dark grey in colour and has deep medium brown coloured staining on the surfaces and on the breaks, suggesting that the breaks are ancient. It has fine, shallow bifacial flaking on all surfaces leaving just three small areas of cortex visible. Middle Palaeolithic Levallois core, knapped from very high quality dark black flint. The core has two convex faces. The upper surface has a considerable amount of flakes removed, leaving a large amount of flaking scars and impact ripples on the surface. Two lithic implments, the first is a flake which is patinated and partially stained medium brown with slight retouch or use wear and is prehistoric in date. The second is a snapped long blade with steep edge retouch on one edge and relatively crude retouch on the other, shallower edge. It is sub-triangular in cross-section.
