A complete Iron Age copper-alloy strap fitting dating to circa 1000 BC-AD 150. It is square shaped in plan with a plano-convex frame. At each corner on the rounded face of the frame are moulded rounded projections. Each projecting is decorated with incised grooves radiating from the centre giving the impression of a floral design. The object is consistent with having a function as a strap union/junction, similar to examples recorded on the database including BUC-6D8ACD and SOM-06AC71. In both of these cases, broad 1st millennium BC dates are offered, from the Late Bronze Age…

An incomplete Iron Age terret ring harness fitting dating to 150 BC-AD 50. Te extant piece consists of a segment of the ring, which is broadly circular sectioned. It has a simple moulded raised discoidal projection. A portion of the next part of the ring survives by terminating in an ancient break.  It is consistent with Lewis' 2013 lobed terret group. Owing to the fragmentary nature of the terret, it is not possible to determine how many projections it would have had. Consequently, a broad 2nd century BC to early 1st century AD date is suggested…

An incomplete Iron Age terret ring harness fitting dating to circa 150 BC-AD 50. The extant piece consists of a segment of the ring, which is broadly plano-convex in section. It has a simple moulded raised rectangular projection. A portion of the next part of the ring survives by terminating in an ancient break.  It is consistent with Lewis' 2013 lobed terret group. An incomplete Iron Age terret ring harness fitting dating to circa 250 BC-AD 50. The extant piece consists of the narrowed rectangular bar with rounded edges. At either end of the bar are two projecting moulded collars which gave way to the ring. The ring has shoulders which taper dramatically and turn almost at a right angle before terminating in an ancient break. The terret is consistent with Lewis' D-shaped form (2013). Because the ring does not survive in any great volume it is difficult to determine whether it would have been plain or elaborately decorated and, consequen…
