Robertson 2000, 3-4 no. 15: ""On 23 November 1959 a hoard of several hundred coins was discovered on the 'Roman Field', Lakenheath.. The hoard of Icenian coins was found near the middle of the Roman Field on the eastern outskirts of the fourth-century settlement. William Mackender, ploughing a little deeper than usual, about 9 in., stopped as soon as he saw he had thrown out the base of a pot, picked it up and a shower of coins fell out. Robertson 2000, 413 no. 1677A: "On land belonging to Haverhill Place... was discovered in 1788, four large gold pieces, and imbedded in clay forty or fifty more, all Roman, the least of which weighted about one hundred grains, which were sold to an individual in this town for forty-three guineas.. Proc. Suff. Inst. Arch. 4 (1864/74), 100 This hoard was thought by Robertson to be late empire but seem to be Iron Age according to additional information found by P de Jersey (2015).
