Copper alloy and gilt horse-harness mount. The mount is axe-shaped in plan. The object is decorated on the face in style II. Decoration comprises an animal looped around itself; the animal's head and a three-toed foot are visible. The animal is composed of three strands. There is a central element comprised of two-strand interlocked ovals. There are two rivets visible from the reverse. Although the reverse is not decorated with raised animal motifs, both faces are covered with gold gilding.

An incomplete cast copper alloy ring, perhaps a finger-ring. The ring has a lozenge-shaped section and chamfered edges. It is worn, with badly damaged edges, and has a mid brownish-green patina. Approximately one quarter of the ring has broken off. Penannular finger-rings, sometimes with lozengiform cross-sections, are known from the late early-medieval period, with parallels from the Viking town of Thetford (Rogerson and Dallas 1984, nos 17-21).

A small incomplete lead plaque, now broken. It has a straight edge at the top, but the other edges are curved so that it is U shaped. The front is decorated with incised decoration forming runes. There is a line across the front, about two-thirds of the way down, and then above that four vertically incised lines forming rectangular panels. An incomplete sheet tin alloy 'scutiform' / disc pendant, of Early Early Medieval dating (AD 500 to AD 600). The pendant is sub circular in plan, with a rectangular extension to the top. This rectangular extension would have originally formed part of the suspension loop and is incomplete. The front of the pendant exhibits a central raised circular boss. A copper-alloy early medieval pin with a faceted cuboid/polyhedral head with a ringed dot motif on all panels apart from the corners. The shaft is bent. Overall the pin measures 62.16mm long, 6.55mm wide and 5.08mm thick. It weighs 2.05g. The shaft is circular in cross-section and tapers in diameter from 2.49mm below the head to 0.44mm at the tip. The head is a roughly shaped polyhedron (cuboid with the corners cut off) and is decorated with a single ring and dot motif.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy possibly early medieval mount, perhaps a strap end or decorative belt fitting. It appears to be a corner of triangular item (two sides meeting at a point with a drilled piercing for a rivet - now missing) and is decorated with ring and dot motif with three of these arching across one end of the item. It is 19.08mm in length, 10.50mmm in width, 0.85mm thick and weighs 0.71g. The angle of the pointed edge is about 60 degrees. The drilled hole has a diameter of c1.80mm. It has a bright green patina.

A possible component of a harness, a fitting made from cast copper alloy. The fitting is incomplete or fragmentary, it is not certain which. The object has a moulded terminal which has a flat base, and the terminal knop is triangular in section with rounded corners. The knop is integral to a slightly larger domed, which has a flattened apex. The opposite side of the dome from the knop there is an integral collar which is semi-circular in section. A copper alloy strap end dating from the Early Medieval period. It is in the shape of an elongated oval with a zoomorphic terminal at the closed end. The front shows has a decorated panel containing a Trewhiddle style beast executed on a Niello background. The attachment end is split and has the iron rivet is still in place. The strap end has a length of 32.51mm, width 10.36mm, thickness 2.55mm, weight 4.34g. It is a Thomas Class A type 1 strap end dating from the 9th century.

An early Medieval lead spindle whorl of Walton Rogers form A1 dating from AD 850-1000. It has a flat base with a domed and slightly flattened apex and a central hole of 9.3mm in diameter. The object is 27.0mm in diameter, 13.2mm thick, and weighs 45.79g. The whorl has a mid-grey patina.  A similar example is SWYOR-057095. Form A1 whorls are known from AD 500 - 1000, but the size of the central hole (over 9mm) makes a late Saxon date more likely.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy sleeve clasp of early Anglo-Saxon date. On either side of the central flattened bar are two pairs of deeply incised grooves. This is the catch-piece from an Anglo-Saxon wrist clasp. The use of a straight bar with integrally cast sewing lugs indicates that it belongs to Hines' Form B12, which is datable to the late-5th to 6th centuries AD (Hines, 1993: 46-49).

A crescentic copper alloy ring, potentially either a Roman earring of Allason-Jones (1989) Type 1 or an early Medieval finger ring of Anglo-Scandinavian style. The ring is 22.1mm in maximum diameter with an internal diameter of 15.5mm. It comprises an undecorated crescent shaped hoop, with circular cross section which narrows in diameter from a maximum of 3.1mm down towards tapering points which meet and slightly overlap.

CURATOR'S REPORT An incomplete silver? Anglo-Saxon pommel of 'cocked hat' type. Description of find Part of an early medieval sword pommel, silver, parcel gilt. Large parts of the pommel seem to have got torn away in antiquity. The silver pommel is decorated with three parallel, gilt ridges framing its lower edge and with two gilt slashes on its side. Remains of gilding are also visible around the two rivet sleeves in which the side of the pommel terminates.
