The object is very similar to, and surely the other part of, SF-4D47FA given their proximity to one another. In that record, Professor Chris Skull suggests that this may be the handle from a Frankish trivet-based bowl handle similar to those found in Graves 1 and 24 (the present exa…

A fragment of a footring from a probable Early Medival 'coptic bowl' vessel dating to the period circa AD 580-650. The area within the angle is laterally curved; this was once the outer face of the foot ring. Each end of the bar like foot is broken just beyond a rounded lug on the upper edge. The flat lugs stand slightly proud on thee inner (rear) face. Mid-way on the top edge of the bar there is an angled branch extended to the left at about 30 d…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy probable zoomorphic Anglo-Saxon hanging bowl mount/escutcheon dating to the Early Medieval period, c. 540-600 AD. The object originally would have taken the form of a stylised bird, with folded wings and a curved beak. Only the upper section (representing the very top of the body, neck and head) survives, with the lower body of the mount truncated in old damage. The body would probably have been rectangular in plan, though demonstrates a triangular cross-section due to its hollow back. Above this surviving section of the upper body, the hooked rectangul…
