A complete copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) buckle frame. It is D-shaped in plan and cross-section, flat backed with a narrowed bar, and notch for the now missing pin.  Short, plain frames are a feature of buckles of the 7th to 8th centuries (for examples, see MacGregor and Bolick 1993: 191 - 208). An incomplete early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy buckle with integral plate. It is broadly triangular in form with hollow/concave back face.The attachment end is semi-circular with a central circular rivet hole and each side of the plate has identical moulded decoration, the frame is now incomplete and there is a pin hole for the missing pin in the centre of the plate. The front face of the object has the remains of an added white metal coating and is missing its rivets due to old breaks. A simple wire pin remains in situ. The buckle belong's to Marzinzik's (2003) Typegroup I.10d-ii (copper alloy D-shaped to oval buckles), which she suggests was in use from the second half of the 5th to the end of the 7th century AD (ibid., 232, fig.8).

A complete copper-alloy early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) buckle. It is D-shaped with a straight strap bar and curved outer side. The strap bar is decorated with a group of four parallel encircling grooves to either side of the pin and there are four additional groups of encircling grooves at equal distance from one another around the curved outer side. A simple pin remains in situ to one side. A fragment of a copper-alloy early medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) buckle plate. Only the inner part of the plate survives. This is an irregular sub-triangular shape, tapering slightly towards a break at the outer end. Two narrow arms, c.4.8mm apart, project from the inner end, each with a small hole at its outer end positioned laterally to the plate. There is a small circular hole through the plate immediately behind these arms. Traces of decoration can be seen on the outer face, but this is heavily obscured by corrosion. It is crescent shaped with a small stub of a semi-circular sectioned forward facing protrusion located centrally within the concave curve. Within the crescent are four deep cells which may have once held some semi-precious stones. Emerging from the bar is an integral triangular plate with rounded end. The plate plate is plain and contains a circular hole which would have held the now missing pin. The reverse of the plate has a projecting lug. presumably associated with the pin.
