Icenian Boar Horse type, class C, "fairly standard example, probably late 1st century BC, perhaps between 30 and 10 BC ... the only variation on the type is prescence or absence of an 'eye' on the boar, split about 50/50... just visible on this one" (information from Philip de Jersey, Oxford coin index).

Small rather thick coin (diam 11.5mm, thickness varying c.1.8 to 2.5mm), slightly dished and almost certainly Iron Age. Metal probably silver but discoloured. The reverse makes most sense as a horse to right, in the style of Icenian Pattern-Horse types with a double mane and simplified body but the obverse has a couple of high relief spots which make no sense as an Iceni design. Perhaps heat damaged?
