A silver penny of Edgar, early portrait, Bust Crowned type, c.959-973 AD. Part of one side of the coin is missing due to old breaks. This is by an East Anglian moneyer whose name might be reconstructed as 'Svartinc'. Dr. Martin Allen (pers. comm.) notes that this appears to be a new moneyer for Edgar's reign, but that a similar coin in the British Museum reading 'SAYDINC' may be the same moneyer. See North, 1980: no. 750.

A silver long-cross penny from the York Archiepiscopal mint but of uncertain type or ruler. The separation of EBOR/ACI on the reverse legend suggests a Class 9b penny, but the double saltire stops, pointed back E's and lombardic N's in the legend and possible bifoliate crown do not seem to fit with this class. It is therefore perhaps a coin of a later Edward, possibly Edward III Treaty or Post-Treaty coinage, or even the Heavy coinage of Edward IV. It might equally be a a continental imitation. This all suggests a date range in the later 14th to 15th centuries for the coin.
