A worn, bent and incomplete post-medieval silver penny of Charles I (1625-49), Group D (North 2267) dating to AD1632-3, mint: Tower, initial mark illegible. Ref: North 1991: 162. The coin is in poor condition, bent and badly chipped removing parts of the edge of the coin, now irregular in shape. This is exacerbated by evidence for clipping on other parts of the coin. The wear and abrasion of the surface has removed some details of the design. The C R either side of the oval shield on the reverse and the lack of inner circles places the coin in Group D.
