An incomplete silver medieval long-cross penny of Edward III (AD 1327-1377), dating to the period c. 1361-1377. Obverse: bust of Edward III, very worn can just make out crown and face. Obverse legend reads: []D[]ARDVS.RE[]. Reverse: long cross, quartering the coin with three plain pellets in each quarter. Legend reads: []IVI/TA[]. Unknown moneyer and mint. Evidence of double striking can be seen on the reverse, where there is a ghost image of the of the central part of the long cross. Coin is generally very worn.
