An early medieval silver penny, a Danelaw imitation of Alfred of Wessex's (AD 871-99) London Monogram type dating to c.AD880-94, Mackay Danelaw Type A2 (imitating London Type A2; North 463). Ref: MacKay 2019: 91 (no.12), pl. 4 (no.69).
The coin uses the same obverse die as Mackay no. 12 (pl. 4, no.69) and has a previously unrecorded reverse die. Silver penny of Aethelstan (924-939), Two Line horizontal type (North 668), moneyer Gota, mint unknown, Spink 1089.
The reverse of the coin is described as the 'horizontal trefoil (HT1)' type and therefore North 668b (see BERK-39FCC8), but the trefoils are missing above and below the names of the moneyer.

Silver penny of Eadmund of East Anglia (855-870), moneyer Dudda, likely Ipswich mint, North 460. Only one other example is recorded on the EMC (1002.0423). This coin is different to that one in it's reverse inscription (only a slight variation) and the design pattern in the central field, with more than one pellet in the angles of the cross (John Naylor pers comm).
