A fragment of a copper-alloy unidentified object of uncertain date. The object is a flattened semi-circular shape with a break across the straight edge. The outer face is decorated with an engraved groove immediately behind the break an a row of incised C-shapes along the curved outer edge.  The function and date of the object is uncertain in its present condition. The patina, shape and decoration would suggest a Roman or early medieval date, but a medieval date is also possible.

An incomplete copper-alloy unidentified object, probably a strap fitting of Roman date. A long, narrow strip, D-shaped in cross-section, one end curved and one end straight with an apparently deliberate c.120 degree bend between the two sections. The outer face of the curved section is decorated with two longitudinal lines of small parallel tool marks. The outer face of the straight section is decorated with bands of transverse grooves flanking an in situ copper-alloy rivet and has a forked outer end. The surface of the metal is corroded and the breaks are well worn. Strong simil…

Incomplete copper alloy object, possibly a Roman buckle plate or strap end. Formed from thin plate; at one end there are four (only two are complete) laterally aligned prongs that curve back 180 degrees in an open loop. From this point towards the main body the width narrows to a symmetrical neck with three deep cusps on each side. Beyond this the object widens to an amphora-shaped body with the end missing at an oblique break. The amphora-shaped body is very reminiscent of nail cleaners of the period, but there is no evidence of a central cleft and the means of suspension would ordin…
