A cast lead miniature axe of possible Roman date. It is square in section at the butt end, tapering in width towards the blade end where it flares to produce a triangular plan and profile. At the butt end is an circular socket. TIt measures 19.04mm in length, 10.11mm in width, 1.70mm in thickness (at blade end), and weighs 3.45g. This is possibly a votive axe similar to other examples recorded through the PAS database (e.g. IOW-DFA401, FAKL-B0C080, SF-BD6BA3, SF-4AB493 or SF-105BC3). These examples suggest a possible Roman date for the object, however a later date cannot be …

An incomplete cast, lead steelyard weight, probably dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-410). The weight is broadly bi-conical in form with both sections tapering to a rounded point. One section appears slightly truncated; it is possible that this would have been the site of an attachment loop would have been attached. This would probably have been made of iron. Although minimal there is some evidence of iron corrosion on the surface of the weight at one apex.  The surface of the weight is undecorated and is patinated creamy-brown with patches of grey. …

Biconical lead steelyard weight, of probable Roman date, with an embedded U-shaped, circular cross-sectioned copper-alloy loop at the top. Another copper-alloy loop, also circular in cross-section, is linked to the first one. This is teardrop shaped, with one terminal coiled three times into a now vacant tube and the other terminating close to the tube’s lower-side opening. The coiled terminal seems likely to be broken and missing further coils if it was to suspend the weight securely. If this is the case, the break is worn. The upper and lower ‘halves’ of the weight are of…
