An incomplete cast copper-alloy gilt book fitting of Howsam type A.9.2 dating to the late Medieval period, dating c. 1350-1400. The fitting consists a box-chape (the upper section of which is missing in an old break) below which is a lozengiform boss and triangular projection demonstrating moulded transverse grooves and a small circular aperture (now clogged with corrosion). A complete cast copper-alloy padlock dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. This is example is of the barb spring type, demonstrating an elongated hollow hexagonally sectioned case that is partially open at one end. At one end of the case is an integrally cast hasp demonstrating a central circular aperture at its midpoint, with a tapering perpendicular projection set at its apex. A complete cast copper-alloy annular brooch dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. The brooch is composed of a sub-circular frame, a constriction on one edge retaining a wound-wire pin. The upper surface demonstrates eight raised collets, inset with alternately off-white stones and green glass inlays. Between each collet, the frame points outwards in a squat triangular lobe-each lobe demonstrating a stamped circular dimple at its centre. An incomplete copper-alloy probably Medieval buckle, dating to AD 1200-1450. It consists of one of the two metal sheets of the buckle plate. It is sub-rectangular in plan and has breaks along the short edges; one short edge has the two remainders of the folds divided by a central rectangular slot for the missing pin. One protrusion of the opposite short end is flattened bent backwards and bears traces of a circular rivet hole. The plate is dented and abraded. A copper-alloy fragment of a Medieval buckle, dating to AD 1270-1400. It is a section of the D-shaped cross-sectioned buckle frame, which has an ornate outside edge and a surviving knob at the beginning of the missing pin-bar. The outside edge has a sub-rectangular extension, which bears on its front face two incised Xs at each slightly rounded end and a transverse groove in the centre as pin rest. Medieval oval buckle frame with obliquely-notched sides and outside edge forming a continuous cable moulding, internal offset to narrowed pin bar, pin missing. The reverse is flat. 27.5 x 28.5mm. Whitehead (2003) suggests dates this type (no. 122) to c.1450 - c.1500. Perhaps a 15th-century date is more appropriate.
