An incomplete cast copper-alloy pin of 'Wrythen headed' form, dating to the Early Medieval period- c. 750-850. It demonstrates sub-spherical circular-sectioned head decorated with deep spiralling grooves that converge at its apex, from the base. An incomplete copper-alloy early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) pin. Only the lower end of the pin head suvives. This is crescentic-shaped suggesting that it formed a loop of some sort originally. Below this is a collar c.11mm wide ribbed with multiple transverse grooves and a flattened rectangular shape in cross-section. An incomplete Early Medieval copper-alloy pin dating to circa AD 700 - 900. The pin has an oval in plan and rectangular in section head with five ring-and-dot decorated stamped in a lozenge-shape and including a central ring and dot. The reverse is undecorated. It terminates in an old break before reaching the stem/. It has a dark brown patina.  The type is recorded by Haldenby (2012, 3). Comparable examples, with variable arrangements of ring-and-dot decoration are recorded on the PAS database, such as DUR-9B661C and FAKL-00A524.

An incomplete copper-alloy pin, probably of early medieval (mid to late Anglo-Saxon) date. The head is a rounded hermispherical shape with two collars below. The stem is circular in cross-section and tapers to a break at its outer end. This is probably an example of Ross' (1992) 'LXX Ball/spherical-headed Type'. A complete Early Medieval copper-alloy pin dating to circa AD 550-650. It has a spatulate shaped flat with broadly rectangular loop. Four incised grooves decorate the straight edges of the head. The head tapers into a circular-sectioned shaft which is now significantly bent out of shape. The shaft tapers into a now worn pointed foot.  A very similar pin is illustrated in Ross 1992 pg 185, fig 5.12d, conforming to Ross' XVI type (1992: 184-196).  Extant length: 40.9mm; Head width: 5.7mm; Thickness: 2.5mm; Weight: 3.99g.
