Description and identification
Two halves of a decorated silver annular brooch frame. It is misshapen, with each part forming an elongated ‘U’ shape, which was once likely circular. The level of distortion obscures the form of the decoration on each ‘face’. There are regular, equally spaced notches infilled with niello across one ‘face’, with intermittent groups of four or five incised or stamped dots. The other ‘face’ is largely plain with occasional groups of notches visible in one area. The two halves join at one break but do n…

Roman copper alloy brooch of Trumpet type and of 1st or 2nd century AD date
The brooch is incomplete, missing the leg and pin and is heavily-corroded (with a surviving length of 31.5mm, a surviving depth of 14.3mm and a weight of 6.0g). The missing spring was secured around a lug at the centre of the rear of the head. The lug is damaged and corroded but appears to have been of unusual, U-shaped form with a cavity in the interior and no surviving evidence of the perforations. The base of the lug is raised suggesting a hinge was unlikely but the arrangement of the spring is uncert…

Gold iconographic finger-ring of late medieval or very early post-medieval date. It has a flat oval longitudinal bezel, engraved with the images of St Catherine holding a sword in her right hand. The rough surface of the background to the bezel suggest that this may have been enamelled, but only cleaning of this area and th…

Object type: AXEHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Pembrokeshire
Workflow stage: Published
Blade-end fragment from a Bronze Age axehead of uncertain type and date. The axe is represented by the end of the blade only and no evidence survives on the broken section for the bottom of a socket. The blade edge and the blade tips have also been lost. The sides of the axe are diverging, possibly resulting in a recurved blade edge. The faces are slightly convex, resulting in an oval section. The axe would have been comparatively slender, probably suggesting the fragment was from a palstave or socketed axe.

Object type: COIN
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Pembrokeshire
Workflow stage: Published
The coin is very worn and parts of it have chipped off. It is coloured very dark grey. A long cross is visible on the reverse with a group of three pellets in each angle. The obverse presumably features a monarch face on but only a crown can be seen. Because of the three pellets and long cross design, this coin cannot have been minted later than the reign of Henry VIII.
