Object is a complete, cast, copper-alloy lobate early medieval sword pommel dating to approximately dating from c. AD 900 - 1100. The pommel is hollow with a curved base; it has five moulded lobes arranged in a triangular form with the outer two on either side increasing in height towards the central lobe each separated from its neighbour by a groove. The central lobe has a pierced top to allow it to fit over the sword. The pommel has a light green and brown patina. Copper alloy pin of uncertain date, possibly Early Medieval, c. 8th or 9th century The pin is incomplete, missing much of the shaft and is heavily corroded (with a surviving length of 35.4mm and a weight of 8.9g). The pin head is now worn and rounded (19.9mm long and 15.1mm maximum width) but may originally have been of faceted polyhedral form. The pin head was enhanced with circular indentations in a zig-zag arrangement across the midsection of the head. Copper alloy penannular ring, possibly a hoop from an Early Medieval penannular brooch The hoop is incomplete, missing one terminal, the pin and is distorted with a stripped surface (with a weight of 6.6g). The surviving terminal has a flattened end (1.6mm thick, 2.7mm wide and 5mm long) before a slight, rounded knop on the outside face (up to 4mm diameter and 1.2mm high). Early medieval copper alloy penannular brooch of 5th to 6th century date The brooch is near-complete but with a stripped surface and is distorted (with a weight of 7.5g). The brooch frame has faceted cuboid terminals (7mm long, 4mm wide and 3mm thick). The front of the brooch has a ribbed border before a decorative moulding, before narrowing to the hoop with a curved step (with a length of 6mm and giving a diameter of 2.5mm – 3.0mm). The silver object is a flattened fragment of penannular arm-ring of Hiberno-Viking type, now in two conjoining pieces. It has the form of a broad flat band of silver of rectangular cross-section, and in plan. The expanded mid-portion of the arm-ring is near the mid-point of the original arm-ring, and tapers to a narrow, fractured end. The cast brooch frame is near-complete but the pin is missing and the frame is comparatively insubstantial (with an overall length of 57.6mm, an overall width of 62.2mm and a weight of 10.6g). The oval hoop (58.8mm external width) is of flattened-oval section (3.4mm wide and 1.9mm - 2.4mm thick), widening slightly as it approaches the terminals. A cast pin from the Early Medieval period made of copper alloy. The pin has been broken off at its end and has a globular head decorated with 8 circular pits that are all coloured with a light green patina. The penannular arm-ring fragment is of Hiberno-Viking type, and has the form of a broad flat band of silver or rectangular cross-section, 3mm deep, with punched ornament on one face.
