Description: This complete glazed earthenware jug or flagon has a short, narrow neck and beaded lip, with the remains of a lug or handle part way down the shoulder. An incomplete, wheel thrown, glazed, ceramic Post-Medieval witch bottle and contents dating to late 16th-17th century. Description: The bottle is incomplete and survives as three pieces, with the base, neck and shoulders represented although much of the body is missing. The sherds are: a large neck and shoulder sherd, a large base sherd filled with a deposit and a small body sherd. A short curved length of twisted gold wire. 8mm of wire at one end has not been twisted. Probably less than 100 years old. Non-destructive X-ray flourescence analysis of the surface indicated a gold content of 95-97%, silver content of 1-2%, the remainder being copper.

A fragment of cast pale green window glass of probably Roman date. roughly triangular in shape, measuring 35.66mm in length and 11.63mm in width and 3.95 in thickness and weighs 2.3 grams. No edges to the pane survive, so impossible to tell what the original shape was when complete. One face is rough to the touch with tiny wavy lines which would indicate the pane was made by pouring molten glass onto a slab of sedimentry rock, the other side is smooth and more translucent. An incomplete pewter "Bosun" whistle of post medieval date (1650 - 1900). Description: The whistle is hollow and tubular in cross-section. The fragment consists of rounded/domed end section decorated with a series of cast circumferential ridges. The warped pewter bowl from a modern tobacco pipe shaped whistle dating to the late 19th century. Description: The fragment represents the bowl and part of the stem of the pipe. The bowl is decorated with a cast curtain comprising joined arches just below the rim of the bowl. Each arch has a vertical line of four pellets within. Cast copper alloy possible 'hawking' whistle, hollow and cylindrical but waisted in plan and circular in section. At the closed end there is a circular suspension loop 4.91mm diameter surrounded with possible decoration to the body, but this is obscured by indentations obtained whilst in the ground. A dark grey zoomorphic hawking whistle most likely made from tin alloy. Description: It is cylindrical in shape with a tapering end and broken extension piece, possibly for an attachment loop. A crushed silver object, probably the body of a late medieval or early post-medieval whistle, now badly crushed. Dating to the period c. AD1375-1600. Description: The object is made of two hemispheres soldered together with the addition of a soldered lip going around circumference. An incomplete whetstone. A pale greenish grey fine grained, hard siltstone with some iron staining. The stone has a rectangular, almost square, cross section and is rectangular in shape. All four longitudinal faces have been worn with use resulting in them becoming slightly concave and in the stone tapering towards the break. The surfaces are also smooth. An Early Medieval or Medieval Whetstone or hone. The stone is sub rectangular, narrowing slightly towards each end. One end is complete with rounded corners, the other ends in an old break. In section it has straight sides and slighty convex faces. It thickens slightly towards the complete end before thinning to a rounded edge. Complete sandstone whetstone. Description Fine-grained compacted sandstone whetstone. A short bar hone of originally rectangular section, all four sides of the central section are now slightly concave through heavy wear. The flat ends suggest that the object is complete.
