A worn early medieval cut halfpenny of a Late Anglo-Saxon king, Eadgar (959-75), Edward the Martyr (975-8) or Aethelred II (978-1016) of the post-Reform issues (after c.975), uncertain type, mint and moneyer uncertain. Ref: North 1994: 157-67. The coin is very worn within the field on both obverse and reverse, with virtually nothing of the design remaining, and the inscriptions are only partial given its status as a cut fraction. The coin is in fragmentary condition with a section of the outer edge of the coin missing, having broken along the line of the inner circle, and another break across the inner circle.
