An incomplete copper-alloy and silver imitation of an early medieval silver penny of Æthelred II (AD 978-1016), Second Hand type (North 768), dating to c. AD 985-991, mint and moneyer uncertain owning to condition of coin. Ref: North 1994: p.158.
The coin is an imitation rather than an official issue comprising a thin silver layer over a base metal core, probably of copper-alloy. The coin is 20.2mm in diameter, and weighs 1.42g.
