A rim sherd of a post medieval whiteware (Surrey / Hampshire borderware) tripod pipkin. The rim diameter was around 150mm. The fabric is hard fired and sandy with a yellow lead glaze on the interior surface. The rim has a flange running around the exterior to seat a lid.

A heavily abraded fragment of a Roman mortarium. The fragment has a hard fired sand-tempered fabric with oxidised reddish exterior and a reduced grey core. One side (the inside surface) has sub angular and sub rounded flint clasts embedded onto it to create a grinding surface.

Three heavily abraded body sherds, probably of later Iron Age or Roman in date and possibly of Black Burnished ware (BB1) or a locally made coarseware. The sherds represent two or possibly three vessels. The fabric is dark reddish grey to black with abundant coarse sand inclusions. The large fragment (40.9mm x 30.6mm) is considerably coarser, with poorly sorted inclusions, and demonstrates a change in angle or slight carination. There is no decoration.

A rim sherd from a large post medieval whiteware (Surrey / Hampshire borderware) flanged bowl or dish. The rim is everted, with a square profile and ornamental notching around the outside edge at the top and bottom. The original rim diameter was around 400mm. A greenish lead or copper glaze appears to have been applied but hasn't vitrified, suggesting that the vessel was misfired and probably a kiln waster.

A post medieval glazed coarse redware strap handle from a post medieval jug, chamber pot or other vessel. The fabric is oxidised red throughout, with abundant fine sandy inclusions and has patches of a dark red brown manganese glaze on the surface. The handle curves and tapers to a break and has a fluted exterior, with two ridges and three grooves.

A bowl from a moulded clay tobacco pipe, of later 17th century date. The bowl has convex sides, a bottered rim, 11.2mm in internal diameter and is undecorated. There is a large flat heel carrying the maker's mark of WO within a heart shaped escutcheon with three small stars, two above and one below the letters (second image). This mark is associated with William Oram of Winchester, c. 1680.

There is a decorative groove running around the exterior at the break in angle between the body and the neck. The original external rim diameter was around 180mm. Circa 4th century AD.

The profile is extremely shallow and the rim slightly curved suggesting a large platter. It has a sandy red fabrics with a thick reddish brown glaze with yellow trailed decoration on the inner / upper surface.

Three heavily abraded fragments of Roman Samian ware, probably from two or three different vessels, all found in the same location. The largest piece (46.9mm x 38.6mm x 7.6mm, 14.38g) has a domed profile and is likely from the centre of the base of a bowl. It retains no surface finish or decoration. The two smaller pieces (27.3mm, 2.06g and 14.6mm, 0.89g) are body sherds of different thickness and likely from two different vessels. Both retain a red brown slip on their exterior surfaces.
