The mount is decorated with raised cells of retained metal, with four small square cells around a central circular cell, all holding a red enamel inlay. The surface of the mount around these cells is gilded. The edge of the plate has a narrow recessed lip which appears to be beaded. The reverse is flat and undecorated with stumps of two integrally cast attachment prongs on the outer edges of the plate, which may represent rivets or (given the positioning) part of an attachment loop.

The thin hoop is D-shaped in cross-section and widens out into the sub-triangular shaped bezel, which has an integrally cast circular copper alloy boss in the setting where a gem would typically be. The section of the band opposite the bezel is decorated with a well executed pair of clasped hands on the inside and outside of the band. The outside of the band has one hand comprising four entire fingers, the back of the hand and wrist , clasping a hand comprising the wrist, thumb, palm and the tips of the fingers from the other hand. The inside of the band has the thumb from one hand and the tips of the fingers from the other hand. The sleeves of both hands are well-defined by four raised ridges and grooves. A fair quantity of gilding remains, giving good definition to the false gem and the clasped hand design. The clasped hands or fede motif has been extensively used throughout history, in the Roman period and, since a reintroduction in the 12th Century, until modern times. Fede refers to the Italian phrase 'mani in fede' or 'hands in faith', with the symbolism of joined hands representing the unification of the rings giver and receiver.
Similar to silver stirrup fede ring waith false gem KENT-06CA7C, NMS-04B885 and KENT-B38915.
Stirrup-shaped finger-rings are a long-lived type, popular in England from the middle of the 12th century until the middle of the 15th century (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 326). There are many parallels on the PAS database, including 2021T720 (CAM-71FF34) , 2021T803 (KENT-2BD376) and 2021T788 (SWYOR-EC17F8).

There appears to be a single striking platform, with parallel removal scars around approximately half of the circumference. Some of these are partially patinated and some break the patination, suggesting several phases of use and re-use.913-3000-10004SUR2024-03-22T10:34:12Z2024-03-22T14:21:39Z61.16PAS65FD5EA4001FD521.541.551.1110144441421177651731217315HampshireEast HampshireClanfield and FinchdeanSU731350.91186004-0.96301943bands.shops.handy10SUR-D5ED8BFlint10837Knapped/flakedCompleteNEOLITHICx14337BRONZE AGEx13712x13712Other chance findReturned to finderSUR-D5EA4F_65fd93eddfdd1.jpg1269153images/smaslin/South EastCertain12024-03-22T14:21:39.117Zfinds-11568251156825SUR-D5B1C9COINPOST MEDIEVALA miled silver threepence of William and Mary (1688-1694) dated 1694. As Spink no 3441.
The coin has been pierced for suspension, over the busts. See SUR-5345CA and SUR-1632EA for examples of contemporary coins of this reign, similarly treated.
The coin has been pierced which may indicate a secondary function which would normally indicate that it should be considered as potential treasure. However, since coins of this period with similar piercings appear in hoards of currency, it suggests that such objects could re-enter circulation as coins. It cannot, therefore, be said with confidence whether this particular object was regarded as a coin or as an item of jewellery at the time of deposition.3636169416944SUR2024-03-22T10:19:08Z2024-03-22T14:30:01Z1.21PAS65FD5B1C0019AC17.50.61221416141421177651749017653HampshireBasingstoke and DeaneUpton GreySU704751.21791736-0.99911507bands.shops.handy10SUR-D5C75A32613381332619Conjoined busts, right.GVLIELMVS • ET • MARIA • D • G •Crowned 3MAG • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • ET • REGINA • 16946London26352940x17731ThreepenceWilliam and MaryWilliam_and_MarySilver11728MilledCompletePOST MEDIEVALx41047POST MEDIEVALx41047x41047Metal detectorReturned to finderSUR-D5B1C9_65fd95e4579b2.jpg1269157images/smaslin/ModernThreepence: William and Mary (S 3442 - 3442)South EastCertain12024-03-22T14:30:01.399Zfinds-11568221156822SUR-D580C7STRAP FITTINGPOST MEDIEVALA post medieval cast copper alloy strap hook, 50.7mm in length with an oval plate which has transverse projecting grooved collars at either end.
