A complete copper alloy trade weight issued in the reign of Charles I (1625-1649) or Charles II (1660-1685). The weight is disc shaped with a raised rim that is bevelled on the inside. There are three stamp marks on this face: a sword at 2 o’clock, representing the sword of St. Paul for the City of London, a ewer (for the Founder's Company, maker of weights) at 5 o’clock, and a crowned ‘C’ (royal cypher) at 11 o’clock, probably for one of the King Charles.
