This is a coin of British Association, struck in Rome for issue in Britain - 39 specimens were found in the Sacred Spring in Bath (As Walker, 1988: p. 291, nos. 1-39, pl. XXXI).

A very worn, copper alloy sestertius of Hadrian (AD 117-38), probably dating to AD 134-8 (Reece Period 6). Richard Abdy, who is writing the revised edition of RIC for Hadrian, suggests this coin might be: [ADVENTVI] AVG [ALEXANDRIAE, S C], Serapis and Isis standing right offering hands to Hadrian and Sabina, standing left; between them, an altar. Mint of Rome. RIC II, p. 452, no. 877. There is a specimen of this rare coin from a hoard at Rainham (RBCH 329) and another specimen in the Bibliotheque nationale in Paris.
