Incomplete copper alloy vessel mouth. The object comprises a heavily damaged, incomplete circle of copper alloy. From the top, the rim of the vessel is smooth, with a very small lip, having been cast integrally as opposed to folded over. There is a straight side to the incomplete cylinder that forms the main part of the vessel mouth; this side is plain with the exception of pairs of parallel, applied dots, located as pairs of two at opposite sides of the object. The base of the straight-sided cylindrical area is encircled by a line of applied dots; below this is a narrow, raised li…

Possibly a leg from a cast bronze vessel, dating to the medieval to post-medieval periods (circa 1350-1850). The object has a sub-rectangular, heavily-duty form to it, with well-rounded corners, projecting up from this a a tapering extension which has broken, with a straight break. The object may have broken off from a larger vessel and the break is irregular and corroded. The metal has lost much of its original surface; the metal is a mid gjade-green colour.

Cast bronze vessel foot, broadly dating from 1350-1850. The foot is a solid, elongated, barrel shape, circular in section. The head of the object is irregular in plan; there is a tag protruding from one half of the head. The tag appears complete and was probably a means of the vessel resting or attaching to the foot. There are some nicks in the foot - a result of damage; the object is not otherwise decorated.

A cast copper alloy figurine bust in the form of the goddess Minerva. The object is in a good state of preservation although the surface is rather worn and pitted obscuring some of the finer details. The face of Minerva is particularly worn but the general mouldings clearly show that she was shown life-like, facing forward with curls of hair visible beneath the helmet along the forehead and the hair goes around the sides of the head. Her nose has been lost, through wear and corrosion. Her chin is delicate and her eyes are basic. Minerva wears a high Corinthian helmet with a large cr…

Medieval cast copper alloy zoomorphic ewer spout. The spout dates from the 15th to 17th centuries, and is likely to be of Flemish or German origin. Ewer spouts of this date were made separately to the body of the ewer, to which they were then welded (Lewis, 1987- see reference below). The front of the spout is in the form of an animal’s head with two oval raised ears and two eyes and a snout. A pipe extends from the animal’s open mouth, through which liquid would have flowed. The rear of the spout is undecorated and slopes downwards to form a large curved opening, which is where it…

Two fragments possibly from a cast copper-alloy chafing dish handle. Chafing dishes were domestic utensils made of metal or earthenware for holding burning charcoal or other combustible material.
