A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date. The fragment is a body sherd with hard and coarse fabric of a dark brownish-orange colour. Numerous small quartz inclusions are present within the fabric.
The fragment is 52.5mm long, 23.8mm wide, 10mm thick and weighs 15.5g.
Generic fabric types such as this with no specific diagnostic features can be difficult to date precisely and range from Iron Age to medieval in date. However, it seems probable that this sherd is from a hand made vessel which suggests an earlier date.

An irregularly shaped lead potmend, measuring 41mm long, 23mm wide, and 6mm thick. It weighs 28.3g. Such plugs were used to repair damaged vessels, and were in use throughout many periods. They were quickly manufactured for this purpose, and therefore show little morphological change over time, making them difficult to date.

A lead pot mend of indeterminate date, measuring 30mm in diameter,17.6mm in thickness, and 57g in mass. Such plugs were used to repair damaged vessels, and were in use throughout many periods. They were quickly manufactured for this purpose, and therefore show little chronological development in form, making them extremely difficult to date.

Cast lead item, probably a one off item made locally to meet a specific need. It has an expanded flattened roughly circular 'head' at one end which is 35.6mm in diameter. Projecting from the back of the head is a large lug with two straight sides alternating with convex curved sides and a rounded end. Through the lug from straight side to straight side is a hole, circular at one end and oval at the other. It is 34.8mm long and weighs 118.8 grams.
Such items are hard to date or identify, one suggestion is that, as a parallel to lead vessel repairs such as SOM-6E8BB6 it would be …

Two ceramic vessel sherds of Prehistoric date. It has not been possible to date the sherds more precisely than to say that they are likely to have been made between the Neolithic and Iron Age. Both of the sherds are formed of a ubiquitus flint gritted fabric and both are from hand made vessels. The total weight of the two sherds is 10.70g.
One sherd is dark grey, 7.67mm thick, weighs 5.33g and is 26.61mm x 22.96mm. This sherd shows a little surface treatment (smoothed or possibly burnished) and pinching.
The second sherd is also a darker grey but slightly lighter than the first wi…

A complete cast lead pot mend of possible Roman to medieval date. The outer plate of the pot mend is sub-oval with a flat reverse and the smaller back plate is sub-circular and uneven. The gap between the two plates is narrow and contains no surviving ceramic material which would help in dating the object.
The metal is a mid grayish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 31.7mm long, 17.8mm wide, 8.2mm thick and weighs 13.7g.

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain.
There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.
