The terminal is complete (with a length of 13.6mm and a weight of 8.6g) but no other part of the handle or knife is represented. The attachment end is gently convex and has a slot to accommodate the end of the knife tang (1 mm wide and 5mm deep). The possible badge is fragmentary (with a surviving length of 19.9mm and a weight of 5.6g). The base of the fragment appears to thin to the break, possibly suggesting a step. There is a convex moulding near the base, above which there are two lateral grooves suggesting a band. The sides are straight and convergent towards the base (with a maximum width of 17.0mm). Late medieval copper alloy buckle of mid-14th to mid-15th century date
The buckle is incomplete, missing the sheet plates and one of the side forks (with a length of 8.1g). The frame is oval with a central, pointed lip (5.0mm wide) and a probable notch for the pin, now worn. Otherwise the frame is of consistent with and thickness and of triangular section (2.5mm wide and 2.4mm thick). There are rounded ribs behind the frame (giving the buckle a maximum thickness of 4.6mm and with a length of 5.6mm) suggesting that separate sheet-metal plates were employed. Medieval open-work lead pilgrim's badge of an uncertain shrine probably of 15th century date
The badge is incomplete, missing some of the detail on the left side and with a distorted pin (with an overall length of 48.6mm, a thickness of 1.5mm and a weight of 5.1g). The badge now depicts two figures possibly both saints or clerics, the taller, central figure (giving the badge a surviving height of 41.9mm) appears to have lost both the headgear and his right arm.
