Probably a Roman Copper alloy bow brooch of Crossbow type and of 3rd to 4th century date The brooch is fragmentary, represented by the crossbow and top of the bow only (with a surviving overall length of 20.4mm and a weight of 14.3g). The corrosion and encrustation of the surface makes it difficult to identify features, although there is a suggestion of a corroded and filled slot at the rear of the head. Roman copper alloy harness fitting or terret of strap-mounted type of 1st or 2nd century AD date. The terret is of simple, double-looped form (strap-mounted) and is complete, but eroded (with an overall length of 41.5mm and a weight of 21.2g). The rein loop is oval (with an external width of 36.5mm and an internal width of 28.2mm and internal height of 24.7mm). The loop is of oval section near the base, becoming circular and thinning at the apex (with a maximum diameter of 6.9mm and minimum diameter of 1.8mm).
