A complete copper alloy strap fitting consisting of a (bar) mount and pendent loop of Medieval date (AD 1325 -1400). The mount consists of a narrow strip of cast copper alloy, folded into a narrow U shape and fastened together with a large copper alloy rivet and circular copper alloy rove. The mount is decorated with a separate pinecone shaped mount attached to the strip with the same rivet. The pinecone is positioned on its side. An incomplete post-medieval strap-fitting from a 16th-century sword belt. The plate is broadly shield shaped with an engrailed top edge with one central projection. The is an elongated rectangular in plan and is folded on itself, it has a rivet hole through both side of the folded plate to hold it together. A complete, post-medieval copper alloy snake shaped strap-fitting of post-medieval date (c.AD1550-1850). The strap fitting is S-shaped in plan and sub-oval in cross section being wider than it is thick. The head of the snake is oval shaped and has a pair of oval eyes. Beyond the head the form of the fitting is S shaped. A complete copper-alloy strap end of post medieval date (c.AD 1650-1750). The frame of the object is multifoil, consisting of 12 rounded lobes and it has a recessed cylindrical bar on the obverse. This style of decoration was popular in the post-medieval period, particularly on buckles as shown in Whitehead’s Buckles (2003) no. 282. A complete copper alloy probable medieval swivelling strap fitting. The object consists of a circular cross-sectioned hoop with a oval section projecting from one side. There is a circular hole, c.7mm at its widest point, through the centre of the oval section. The circular hole is faceted on both faces, suggesting that a moveable component was attached here originally. A complete Post Medieval sword belt mount and part of the rivet from the plate it would have been hung from dating to the 16th century AD. The plate of the mount has a tri-lobed end which has suffered some degredation to the extent that the lobes have been worn away almost completely. A cast bar, now part-melted, to which are attached the expanded ends of a small integrally cast spool-shaped object of length 14.2mm with expanded round ends with a space 9.4mm wide between bar and spool. A function entailing the constraint of a light strap might explain this form. The melting of the object is unlikely to have come about accidentally.
