A cast lead alloy spindle whorl dating to the Medieval period, (AD1066-1500). The object is circular in plan and bi-conical. It has a small central circular perforation with an internal diameter of 7.93mm. One face is decorated with a series of moulded lines and pellets. The opposite face is decorated with a moulded herringbone pattern. The object has a mid-brown patina and the outer edge has been damaged on one side. A complete cast lead palm guard probably of post-medieval date (c.AD 1600 - AD 1900). The object is a roughly circular in shape and has a slight 'D' shaped cross section. The flat face of the object is heavily pitted whilst the curved underside is relatively smooth. The object is covered in a white to grey patina. Palm guards are believed to have been used to push a needle through a tough material. Leather workers' palm guards are discussed in an article in Gordon Bailey's 'Detector Finds 2', 1993, pages 64-5. The object is square in section and is pinched towards to end to taper to a rounded section. It has a flat flat and tip. The object has patches of red iron-oxide corrosion. The function and date of the object is unclear. A copper-alloy mount, probably a furniture fitting, dating to the post medieval period (c.AD1700-1900). The zoomorphic mount depicts a bird stood on a plinth. The plinth is oval shaped in plan and concave on its edges. The birds legs and tail project from the plinth. The body is slender and the wings are kept close to the body which leads to the forward pointing head. The sides and base are all closed, and the upper surface has a sub oval hole that is lightly recessed before riding to a lip. The object has a cream patina. Treasure case 2020 T975 Description A mostly complete, but in two pieces, gold armlet dating to the early Bronze Age (c.2100 – 1900 BC). It is decorated with embossed ribs and belongs to the embossed goldwork tradition (see Needham 2000a). The object is formed from a cylindrical band of sheet gold with no visible seams. In cross-section it has a corrugated appearance with eight bulbous embossed ribs, six decorating the body and two forming the rims. The ribs are evenly spaced with flat bands in between.
