Three cast copper-alloy fragments in the form of the limbs of an ornate cross with a suspension loop at the top. The decoration consists of a series of small leaves on the horizontal arms, with four such leaves meeting in a cross shape at the central point. A small rivet lies in the centre of the four leaves, with another one leaf in from the outer end of the right-hand limb, and there is an empty hole in a similar position on the left. Copper alloy vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix, back unseen. Device of a tonsured monk in Benedictine garb standing on a plinth, holding a book in his right hand, a papal crozier (three cross-pieces just below hook of crozier) in his left. An eight-pointed star is on the right of the figure, an upwards-facing crescent on the left, both approximately at the monk's hip height. Figure is Pope Gregory the Great (540-604). Device in very good condition, separated from the legend area by a fine line. No evidence of any lettering ever having been present. Measurements: approx. 72 mm

Copper alloy seal matrix with oval face and short handle in the shape of a flattened hexagon, terminating in a single collar and a broken suspension loop. Top third of the face has been snapped off. Device of a heart pierced by two arrows in saltire, fletchings uppermost. Above the heart a series of short lines, and above this, the bottom of a letter; the rest was on the missing portion of the matrix. A tiny burning heart in each of the remaining angles formed by the arrows. Edge of face surrounded by a beaded line. Measurements: 15 mm x 12 mm, 12 mm high; weight approx. 3 g.

Tiny copper alloy seal matrix with oval face and short handle in the shape of a flattened hexagon, broken off before the suspension loop. Piece is in very poor condition, with face thin and badly pitted. Device of a stag's head and length of neck, facing left. A cast copper alloy mount for a horse harness pendant. It is a long thin rectangle with a D-shaped terminal at either end, each with a rivet hole and a long knop. The centre of the lower edge has a projection which is turned up at the back to form a hinge for the usual iron axis bar, which is missing. There are traces of gilding. Measurements: 62 mm widest x 16 mm longest x 5.5 mm thickest at the turned-over hinge; the slightly hollow backed arms 8 mm wide x 2.2 mm thick.

Mount.has severe pitting to the front. Pendant bears a red enamelled cross paty on a central shield. This is set within a beaded circle; beyond this, an inscription, "AVE MARIA GRACIA". Some gilding remains on the pendant, also on the pendant mount. A harness decoration made from copper-alloy sheeting, which has been cut and turned over in three places to form a housing for a long pin, thus creating a hinge for the fixing of three cast copper-alloy pieces shaped like a bell's clapper. A small enamelled and gilt copper-alloy quatrefoil harness mount in generally good condition. The fixing to the harness was with two rivets 5 mm long one of these rivets has a square washer remaining in position. The decoration consists of a gilt crowned 'W' or double 'V', with the innards of the two Vs filled with red enamel; the rest of the ground is blue. The red enamel is intact, as is most of the gilding, but the blue enamel is badly crazed. Measurements: 34 mm x 34 mm.
