Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper-alloy finger ring. The ring is 'D' shaped in section and circular in plan. The inner face is flattened. The ring is completely plain making dating it to a particular period problematic. A finger ring of this type could date from the Iron Age to Post-Medieval date. However, the patina of the copper alloy, an even dark green, is typical of Roman finds from this area.

A cuboid flint nodule. Use if any is uncertain but the nodule could have been used as a hammerstone or some other tool. The nodule may not have been worked by man but the cuboid shape is interesting and possibly suggestive of human alteration rather than natural formation. If the nodule has been worked it is likely to have been chipped or pecked at to remove tiny angular pieces, rather than knapped which results in flakes being removed. If this object has been altered by man it is probably of Prehistoric date. This item needs to be looked at by a lithics specialist. Dimensions: 46.04m…

A miniture flint axehead rejuvinated from a bigger and older Neolithic polished stone axe. The secondary knapping is of cruder quality than the original workmanship. This artefact might have been a child's toy or votive item. Although the original artefact is of Neolithic date it is not currently possible to determine a likely date for the reworking, however this is most likely to have taken place at somepoint during prehistoric periods. A rounded flint nodule. Use if any is uncertain but the nodule could have been used as a hammerstone or some other tool. The nodule may not have been worked by man but the surface is covered in small angular depressions very similar to those covering the surface of the object recorded on the PAS database with record number CAM-8CB781 and is slightly more suggestive of having been worked due to it's cuboid shape. If the nodule has been worked it is likely to have been chipped or pecked at to remove tiny angular pieces, rather than knapped which results in flakes being removed. If …
