Flint leaf arrowhead of probable Early Neolithic date (4000 - 3300 BC). The flint is a honey coloured tertiary flake, predominantly opaque but translucent at the thinner edges. It is Lancolate shaped with a round base and has invasive, scaled, low angle retouch to both faces. The central areas of both sides of the flint are patinated. The retouch cuts through this recortication indicating reuse of an earlier implement. The pointed tip of the arrowhead has been snapped off. It is 30.1mm long x 14.9mm wide x 4.1mm thick. Object type: LEAF ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Grey semi-translucent flint with cortex, probable leaf arrowhead. A thin flake of ogival form with long narrow parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb on the ventral. Possibly lightly battered at a flat base opposite the pointed end. It is possible the converging blades have been sharpened by extremely short abrupt retouch, though this detail is more readily felt than discerned by eye, and might merely represent fortuitous edge-on impacts. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC. Length: 23.1mm, Width: 15.8mm, Thickness: 4.4mm, Weight: 1.51gms

Grey flint with cortex possible leaf-shaped arrowhead. A thin oval flake with narrow parallel flakes removed from its dorsal surface, trimming cortex which in part remains. There is a bulb at one end of the basal surface. Patches of misty patina may suggest the object has endured exposure to a calcareous environment after its deposition. The finder kindly suggests this to be debitage, perhaps in this case as an unfinished arrowhead. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC Length: 26.8mm, Width: 21.4mm, Thickness: 5mm, Weight: 3.24gms
