A Roman rim sherd, from a triangular rimmed dish with external burnished lattice decoration. It is definitely a product of the Roxby kiln industry as it has small fragments of brown ironstone in its fabric visible under magnification. The form can be directly paralleled to an example published by Rigby and Stead from the kiln site (1976, Fig 67. 53, Roxby Form P). It is a local copy of a black burnished ware form commonly produced in the south of England and should be dated to AD150-230.
