Silver Coin. A double petard of Charles the Rash of Burgundy (1467-1477), struck at Bruges 1467-1474. This identification was kindly provided by the finder with reference to PAS record no. DUR-E62735, which notes that these coins became acceptable legal tender in England from 1469 as they were exactly equivalent in precious metal content to the contemporary English groat. .

Obverse description: Heraldic shield with the three lis of France Modern quartered with panels divided between a lion to right and diagonal bars to left, and with the lion of Brabant in a central shield-shaped panel. Initial cross pattee; annulet punctuation.
