Silver coin. Scots short cross cut halfpenny, kindly identified by the finder as of Alexander II (1214-1249). If so, this would probably be issued in the period 1214-1230 in the name of William I (1165-1214), as the leftward bust is a feature of that reign. This reporter is uncertain about the reading offered below.
Obverse description: Bust probably facing left with sceptre before face.
Obverse inscription: [--]X[---?CE?[--]
Reverse description: Voided short cross, a five pointed star in each angle.
Reverse inscription: (--)[--]X[?C]RL(--)
Diameter: 17.9mm, Weight: 0.68gms
