Copper alloy Possible Door Fitting. Possible part of lock plate. Fragment of a cast rectangular plate with a rectangular rebate on one broken edge (perhaps for the movement of a Yale latch), and a lightly countersunk screw hole at the opposite broken edge (perhaps to fasten plate to door). A further curving edge is probably a random break. The finder observes this fragment is probably machined. Suggested date: Modern, 1930-1960. Length/Height: 17.3mm, Width: 19.8mm, Thickness: 1.6mm, Weight: 2.63gms.

Copper alloy Possible Door Fitting. Possibly part of a lock. A cast rectangular plate with a stepped edge. On what is taken to be the internal side, a semicircular ridge with a lug at either end stands proud of the surface. Centrally to this feature a short pin protrudes. A countersunk screw hole at one edge of the plate has a diameter in excess of 2mm. The finder observes this fragment is probably machined. Suggested date: Modern, 1930-1960. Length: 26.2mm, Width: 18.7mm, Thickness (clear of internal features): 1.5mm, Weight: 5.93gms.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman lock bolt. The lock has a rectangular section with cut-outs. However, as most of the cut-outs are covered with iron corrosion, it is impossible to determine their shape. The outer cut-out, which is not covered in corrosion, is rectangular. The lock is broken at the outer cut-out and also at the integral rectangular plate at the opposite end. The surviving length is 25.9mm, the width is 12.5mm and the weight is 6.51g.

Iron and Copper alloy Escutcheon. Wrought iron lock plate with separate rectangular copper alloy plate, measuring 36mm by 22mm with a hand-cut keyhole shaped aperture, attached to it. The iron plate was of 'eared' form, and has lost one of its ears. This is probably from the binding of a substantial chest. Copper alloy lock fragment. A round section bar, tapered to a sharp and lightly bent point at one end, and passing through a thin [0.5mm] rectangular [11.5mm by 9mm] plate at the other, where it is flattened to form a rectangular leaf-spring with diagonal striations on both its sides, diminishing from a maximum thickness of 1.1mm where it emerges from the plate. The striations may indicate scars from the working of the mechanism. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410 Length: 38mm, Width: 27.2mm, Diameter (bar): 2.6mm, Weight: 3.58gms

Copper alloy possible lock fitting. Cast oval-ended asymmetrical waisted flat plate with a stepped or flanged rectangular billet apparently pegged into the back of its larger end. This resembles a keyhole escutcheon, though the flanged component might point to a sliding means of adjustment.
