Pottery Lamp sherd, as kindly suggested by the finder. Colour Coated Ware with red and quartz inclusions, possibly from Brough. A moulded and wheel finished disc with matt brown slip inside and out, and with a central moulded hole of diameter 7mm with three concentric grooves and ridges around the hole, and with almost straight sides. The interior is domed. Suggested date: Roman, 150-300.
