Copper alloy brooch fragment. Cast hinged Colchester derivative brooch, Mackreth type CD H 3.b/c or 4.d Plate 57. Tubular wings are moulded at their ends and where they spring from the top of the bow, retaining an axis bar for a hinged pin [lost]; one wing is bent away from the brooch head, which is an unusual form of damage. The wings are clasped by a D-section bow with a single raised ridge down its middle, and tapers towards the foot [lost].
