A small, rounded, garnet bead, of unknown date, Roman - Post Medieval, AD 43 - 1900. It is an irregular, smooth, rounded shape and has a circular hole through it (about 1mm diameter) nearer to one end. The bead is 3mm long and 2.7mm in diameter. It weighs 0.1g. Garnets are frequently found on the Thames foreshore (LON-0C7DE2 for example) and another worked garnet bead is LON-0335F7, but they can seldom be dated without additional context.

Early Medieval bead: The bead is made of quartz which has been polished. It is a long oval shape with the suspension hole running the length of the bead. It measures 18.29mm long, 11.06mm wide, 7.93mm thick and weighs 2.08g. A similar bead has been recorded on the PAS database LIN-0E8FB6 which was dated to the 6th to 7th century, although no evidence was given for the dating.

An incomplete gem bead of probable Modern date, about AD 1900 - 1950. Probably less than half of the bead survives. It is sub-spherical with a pronounced ridge across the complete end. The circular drilled perforation (c.1.5mm diameter) is in the centre of this ridge, and is also visible in the broken face. A small amber bead dating to the Bronze Age, (2350-801BC). The object is circular in plan and sub-oval in cross-section. It is of varying thickness with a rough thickness. The object has a conical perforation which has been drilled from one side. The perforation has an internal diameter of 3.27mm on one face which tapers down to 1.99mm on the opposite face. The surface is rough and uneven. It is light orange-yellow in colour due to oxidation. This piece of amber would have originated in Poland.

A complete slightly worn amber bead of uncertain date. The bead which in circular in plan and oval in cross section thickens towards the centre. The surface is chipped in places. This is an amber bead, probably of Medieval - Post Medieval date, 14th - 16th century. The bead is a rounded oval in plan with facetted sides. The perforation has been drilled from both ends. Hazel Forsyth notes that is it very difficult to date beads. The amber is probably from the Baltic and either washed up on UK shores or was traded by Danzig to the Netherlands where there was a massive industry in these type of objects. A collection of 88 glass, ceramic, and amber beads from an Anglo-Saxon grave. The beads vary in size and shape, but were probably from one or two necklaces associated with a grave. 4 beads are glass. The largest of these is incomplete, but was probably spherical in its original shape. The glass is clear with a smear of blue internally. D=16.63. A tubular bead of dark blue opaque glass. Incomplete (slightly damaged) Bronze Age or Early-Medieval amber bead. It is conical in shape with a rounded body, being 11.9mm diameter at the centre and 4.7 and 5.9mm diameter at the ends The central piercing is 2.8mm diameter and the bead weighs 0.97g. The bead is 15.3mm long. The damage has occurred at one of the ends. Beads, to be worn on a string (and often found in graves), were popular in Early-Medieval times, amber being the second most popular material used after glass. Amber beads are also common Early to Middle Bronze Age burial finds.
