However, part of the outside edge has two angled facets that may be where it has broken from a larger object. The bead appears to have been made by rolling a thick sheet of copper alloy around a central solid shape while the metal was still plastic, and then sealing the ends of the sheet together. A deep recess is visible where the two ends of the sheet meet. The bead measures 7.7mm in internal diameter, and 15.5 in external diameter. It is 4.1mm thick. The bead weighs 5.4 grams. Half of a cast copper alloy annular bead. The bead has a dark greyish-green patina. Much of the original surface has been lost. It is undecorated. The object possibly dates to the Bronze Age, circa 2150-800 BC. But a more modern date (maybe medieval can not be ruled out).

It weighs 3.84g. The bead would have been made by melting glass into a crucible. Then an iron rod would have been used to gather the glass. The glass was then trickled onto the rod, forming the central hole and then it would have been rolled, to smooth the outer surface. The manufacture of glass beads is exampled fully in Leahy (2003) see reference below. The bead is blue, with a light blue spiral into th…
