An incomplete machine-made silver thimble of modern date, c.AD 1850 – 1950.
The thimble is flattened and folded with the dome lost to old worn breaks. The upper half of the thimble is decorated with regular tessellating hexagonal pits. The lower half displays foliate decoration formed of stippling and machine pressed grooves. The rim is folded over.
The metal has a dark grey patina and is in fair condition. The object is 22.6mm long, 14.9mm wide, 4.9mm thick and weighs 3.1g.
