Flint blade or knife flake, lozenge-shaped in plan and section and semi-circular in profile. The proximal end and lateral margins have been bifacially retouched. Towards the distal end of the dorsal face, running along the left edge, are the remains of a strip of cortex, suggesting that this is a secondary flake. The dorsal face preserves an area of smooth conchoidal fractures rippling away from the proximal end. The flint is a mottled light to dark gray colour, probably made from a local beach pebble, and the length to breadth ratio is about 2:1. Bond il…

The blade has been knapped from a opaque mid brown coloured flint, which has developed a light grey/blue coloured patina. The blade is not quite complete, the proximal end is missing, therefore the unpatinated flint is visible. The blade is sub-trapezoidal shape in section. There are negative flake scars on the dorsal surface. The length of the blade is 53.9mm long, 16.9mm wide and 4.7mm wide. It weighs 4.14g. The blade probably dates to the Neolithic period.

Two faces on the obverse one of which is narrow (6mm wide) and very steep, both side have a large amount of detailed pressure flaked retouch. One face on the reverse. There is a considerable amount of damage to the lower section with two large flakes removed, mainly due to frost damage. This has resulted in the artefact looking like a Bronze Age bared and tanged arrowhead, however the true nature of the artefact may be a knife or a retouched flake.
